General Body Meetings

General Body Meetings

Our General Body Meetings are the heart of Global Medical Training at UTA. Held biweekly, these meetings are where our 250+ members come together to learn, connect, and grow — both as future healthcare professionals and as global citizens. Each session features a unique theme that ties into our mission: to expand access to care, develop cultural competency, and empower students with hands-on skills and meaningful experiences.

Expect a mix of guest speakers (including physicians, public health experts, and alumni), clinical skill-building workshops, global health spotlights, and previews of upcoming service trips. We also highlight volunteer opportunities, host panel discussions on topics like med school admissions, and create a space for mentorship across all class years.

Attendance earns points toward graduation cords, raffle prizes, and “Member of the Month” nominations! Most importantly, our meetings are designed to inspire action — whether it’s signing up for our trip, joining an officer cohort, or taking your first step into a leadership role.

New members are always welcome, and you don’t need to be pre-med to join. If you care about making a difference in underserved communities at home and abroad, you’re in the right place!
